Why we made the first book.
Almia started because of our daughter.
Every evening she was asking for stories that were oddly specific. A T-rex at the beach one night. An orange rabbit and a blue cat all in one story the next. Nothing on her shelf came close. So we set out to build something that could keep up with the way her interests kept evolving, week after week. Something that gave us more ways to connect with her, night after night.
We built the first version of Almia for her. The books she now reaches for, every time, are the ones where she is the hero and her favourite things of the moment fill every page. Bedtime became the part of the day she looks forward to the most, and now she asks to read them well outside of bedtime too. When family and friends saw what we had made, they started asking us for one for their kids. That's when we knew this wasn't just for us.
